Roller Shutter Motor Stops or Hums but Does Not Move
The cause may be electrical, mechanical, or related to the motor's settings.
One of the most common causes is incorrectly adjusted travel limits.
Increased friction is another common cause. Worn guides, dirt, bent components, or a heavy roller shutter force the motor to work harder.
Another possibility is that the thermal protection has been activated.
Why does the motor hum but the roller shutter does not move?If you can hear the motor running but the roller shutter does not move, there may be a problem transmitting motion from the motor to the shaft, or a mechanical problem with the shutter.
A possible cause is wear in an internal component, such as the gears or the adapter. In other cases, there may be a problem with the capacitor.
Before assuming that the motor is faulty, however, the mechanical condition of the roller shutter should be checked.
A blocked guide, a bent shutter curtain, or a shutter with excessive resistance to movement can cause similar symptoms.
A new motor cannot fix a roller shutter with mechanical problems. The motor does not work at allThe power supply should be checked first.
Check whether power is available, whether the switch works, and whether a circuit breaker has tripped in the electrical panel.
For wireless motors, the remote control's battery and operation should also be checked.
The fact that the motor does not respond does not necessarily mean that it has failed.
If all external checks are satisfactory and the motor still does not work, there may be an internal electrical or mechanical fault.
